Louisa’s Story
Louisa* came to her pregnancy test appointment with Modesto Pregnancy Center feeling against all the odds. Her oldest daughter had been getting into some serious trouble, so Louisa made the hard decision to send her to her aunt’s. Then consider that Louisa’s boyfriend was facing significant legal challenges, possibly jail time.
A pregnancy on top of that? It felt overwhelming.
But God is a mighty, gracious God who often uses our peer advocates’ testimonies to reach others. Page through the bible and you’ll see countless stories of men and women sharing what God has done in their lives and the lives of others. This isn’t to be self-righteous, but instead reveals God’s faithfulness and transformative work, drawing others closer to the Lord and, hopefully, salvation.
Louisa’s peer advocate could relate to her struggles. She shared her testimony and the way that God radically changed her life. She asked Louisa if she believes in Jesus, and Louisa said she believes in God. When asked what that looks like in her life, Louisa shrugged. Then the peer advocate began to share the gospel, telling Louisa that she is loved more than she knows.
With that, Louisa began to cry.
Our peer advocate prayed over Louisa, and we ask that you would also surround her and her family in prayer. We ask for you to intercede on behalf of this family and that the Lord would encounter them in a mighty way, showing them the truth of how they can escape the bondage of fear, shame and doubt.
